MAC’s Glamour Daze collection for holiday 2012 contains 5 Lipglasses… Four being new colors, one (Pink Fade), being a repromote that has been released several times over the past year or so. They’re all colors that can be worn by everyone, which is nice. The Lipglasses in this collection also go along well with the Lipsticks, and most look good worn alone too, so they’re versatile. I like these Lipglasses so much that they’ll all be staying in my own personal stash… I can really see myself using these a lot this season!
MAC Lipglasses typically give me about 4 hours of wear before I need to touch up. They’re a somewhat thick, slightly sticky formula, but the sticky feeling isn’t so bad once you’ve had them on for a bit and they have a chance to melt into your lips. If they were too runny, they would not be so pigmented or wear as well, so don’t take the thick, sticky feeling as a negative thing! These, like other MAC Lipglass, have a subtle vanilla scent but no taste.
All five Lipglasses in the Glamour Daze collection are limited edition and are available now at your local MAC store, counter, or on www.maccosmetics.com. MAC products are also available to purchase through the websites of their retailers, such as Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Nordstrom. They contain the usual 4.8g / 0.17oz of product in each tube and have a doe-foot applicator. The Glamour Daze Lipglasses have special packaging with white text and a black label, so that makes the cost of these go up to $16.50, rather than the $15 that permanent Lipglasses cost.
Deliciously Demure: Deliciously Demure is described as a “soft cool brown with pearl”. Hmm… I can see how it looks like that in the tube, but on my lips it’s not nearly as cool, or as truly brown! On, it looks more like a rosy, plum-ish, warm brown with multidimensional micro-shimmer. Although it’s not as dark or pigmented on as it is in the tube, it does give even and opaque coverage. This is an extremely versatile color and would look good on any skintone, from pale to deep dark. If you’d like to layer this over one of the Glamour Daze Lipsticks, it looks great over Glamourdaze!

Flight of Fancy: This Lipglass is a “rich purple”. It’s darker in the tube than on the lips, where it looks more like a deep, slightly rosy, cool plum with a tiny hint of shimmer. Like Deliciously Demure, although it’s not as dark as it is in the tube, it does give opaque and smooth coverage, hardly settling into the lines of the lips at all. I think the only reason it did on mine is because my lips have been really chapped. I’m sure that if I’d have applied Prep + Prime Lip underneath, I wouldn’t have had that problem. Flight of Fancy would look great on everyone, and looks especially nice when layered over Dramatic Encounter Lipstick.

Impossibly Sweet: Impossibly Sweet is a “soft sheer pink with multidimensional pearl”. There is absolutely LOADS of pearly shimmer in this Lipglass, but not much color… I don’t see any pink to it once I apply it on my lips, but there was a slightly pinkish nude tint to it when I swatched in on my arm. Either way, it’s pretty and flattering on everyone, so long as you like shimmer anyway! The coverage is even with no settling into lip lines, but there’s definitely not much opacity to Impossibly Sweet. Since it’s a neutral gloss, anyone can wear it either alone or layered over any lipstick.

Pink Fade: Pink Fade is a “light creamy pink” that contains no shimmer. Although it’s a light pink, it’s still bright. It’s a neutral type of pink with the smallest hint of a cool undertone that’s barely even noticeable… That makes this a flattering color for all skin tones, from pale to dark. The color payoff and opacity are great, but it does tend to settle into the lines of the lips a bit. You can easily prevent that problem by first applying a moisturizer or primer, like Prep + Prime Lip, or by layering this over a Lipstick. I find that it looks lovely over Beauty Lipstick that was also released with the Glamour Daze collection.

Talk Softly to Me: Talk Softly to Me is a “light creamy coral pink” with no shimmer. On the lips, it’s slightly more pink than it is in the tube, but other than that, MAC’s description describes it perfectly! Like Pink Fade, it’s light, but bright, and has good color payoff and opacity… Also like Pink Fade, it has the issue of settling into the lips when worn alone. As I have mentioned before, layering it over a moisturizer, primer, or lipstick will take care of that problem. Worn alone, it’s warm-toned enough that it would be flattering on anyone. If you’d like to layer it over a Lipstick, I think it would look nice over Glamourdaze, but best over Innocence Lipstick… They were practically made for each other!
